newspaper provides a wonderful opportunity for teachers to give students important safety
information while covering a number of standards in the core content areas. The following
curriculum guide identifies the grade-level (6th -7th through 12th) content standards
that can be covered using "Project Impact News."

- Science
Differences in pressure, heat, air movement, and humidity result in changes of weather.
Weather and climate involve the transfer of energy in and out of the
atmosphere.
Major geologic events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain building
result from plate motions.
Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and floods change human and wildlife
habitats.
Why and how earthquakes occur, and the scales used to measure their intensity and
magnitude.

Distribution of more than 71,000 newspapers.
To the Top
66,000 newspapers will be distributed in Washoe County, as follows:
- One newspaper to every child in the Washoe County School District
(K-12)
- All students attending Manogue High School
- All charter schools in Washoe County
- Some private schools in Washoe County
- All City of Sparks employees
5,000 additional newspapers will be distributed as follows:
- Nevada Humane Society
- Schools in Sierra County (K-12)
- Trindel Insurance Company
- Sierra County Health and Human Services
- Sierra County Sheriff's Department
- Town of Truckee Animal Control
- Sierra County Office of Emergency Services
- Sierra County Office of Education
- Sierra County Drug/Alcohol Program
